Gas Mask wz.24 was called commonly R.S.C. These were the first letters of the surnames of the 3 project engineers - Robert, Saunier and Cantot. It was the first exemplar of a gas mask produced in Poland, in interwar period, and it was modeled on the French mask A.R.S. Production took place in the Military Plant of Countergas Equipment in Radom. In the interwar period, until 1939-year, Gas Mask RSC, besides the wz.32 model, was the basic model of polish army counter gas equipment.
This model of gas mask was used outside the army by the League of Air Defense of the State (Liga Obrony Powietrznej Państwa - LOPP) from 1923 to 1928. After the 1928 Leagues of Air Defense of States was transformed in The Airborne and Antigas Defence League (Liga Obrony Powietrznej i Przeciwgazowej - LOPP).
When the World War II erupted, RSC mask was the equipment of horse artillery, cavalry and many other units.
